- Medigap Plan A: Medicare Supplement Plan A offers basic benefits. It covers the coinsurance, hospice care coinsurance, and hospital costs for Medicare Part A. Medigap Plan A also covers the copayments, coinsurance, and the first three pints of blood during a blood transfusion under Medicare Part B.
- Medigap Plan B: Medicare Supplement Plan B covers the same benefits as Medigap Plan A, as well as the hospital costs, coinsurance costs, and deductibles for Medicare Part A.
- Medigap Plan C: Medigap Plan C covers all the out-of-pocket costs associated with Medicare Part A and Part B, including the Part B deductible. It also covers 80% of the charges for foreign travel emergencies, but only up to plan limits. However, Plan C does not cover Medicare Part B excess charges.
- Medigap Plan D: Medicare Supplement Plan D covers almost all the out-of-pocket expenses associated with Medicare Part A and Part B. The exception is the Part B deductible and excess charges. Medigap Plan D also covers 80% of the costs for foreign travel emergencies, but only up to plan limits.
- Medigap Plan F: Medicare Supplement Plan F is the most comprehensive Medigap plan. This is because it covers all of the remaining out-of-pocket costs left from Medicare Part A and Part B. Medigap Plan F also covers the deductible and excess charges for Part B and 80% of the foreign travel emergency expenses (up to plan limits).
- Medigap Plan G: Medicare Supplement Plan G covers most out-of-pocket costs left behind from Part A and Part B, except for the Part B deductible. This plan also covers 80% of the charges for foreign travel emergencies, up to plan limits. Because of Plan G’s extensive coverage, it is the second most comprehensive supplement plan.
- Medigap Plan K: Medigap Plan K pays for all of the Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs. However, it covers only 50% of these costs: Part A coinsurance and copays for hospice care, Part A deductible, the coinsurance for skilled nursing facility care, Part B coinsurance and hospital costs, and the first three pints of blood during a blood transfusion. This plan does not cover the deductible or excess charges for Part B, nor does it cover foreign travel emergency care.
- Medigap Plan L: Medigap Plan L pays for all of the Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs. However, it covers only 75% of these costs: Part A coinsurance and copays for hospice care, Part A deductible, the coinsurance for skilled nursing facility care, Part B coinsurance and hospital costs, and the first three pints of blood during a blood transfusion. This plan does not cover the deductible or excess charges for Part B, nor does it cover foreign travel emergency care.
- Medigap Plan M: Plan M covers Part A hospice care coinsurance, skilled nursing facility care coinsurance, coinsurance and hospital costs for Medicare Part A and B, the first three pints of blood for medical procedures, and 80% of the foreign travel emergency expenses. However, it only covers 50% of the Part A deductible.
